Recreation & Wellbeing updates on Coronavirus (COVID-19) – April 6

Message sent from Brigitte Lossing, Interim Director of Recreation & Wellbeing, to participants on April 6, 2020

Dear Recreation & Wellbeing members, participants, parents, and families,

In light of Alameda County’s announcement, and in support of the campus’ efforts, advising county residents to shelter in place, we will be extending the previously announced Recreation & Wellbeing closure of facilities, programs and services through Sunday, May 3.

Recreation & Wellbeing is committed to staying connected with the campus community while our facilities are temporarily closed.

  • Fitness classes are now available online so that you may continue to workout with our high-quality instructors and your campus colleagues.
  • We continue to pay all student and hourly-pay employees at all levels so we can resume programs and services when the campus re-opens.
  • Facilities are routinely inspected and tuned to ensure we are ready for full operation.

We know that you have many fitness options to choose from and appreciate your on-going dedication to Recreation & Wellbeing at UC Berkeley. In the days and weeks ahead, we will focus efforts on continuing to provide wellness benefits through our website, social media channels.

We will continue to assess the situation during this period and provide updates with regards to future programming and availability as they become available.

For additional information, please visit the University Health Services web pages, which contains an FAQ and a video with basic information about the virus. Also, be sure to follow the latest campus developments at Berkeley News.

Please be safe and we look forward to welcoming you back on campus soon. Thank you, again, for your continued support as we navigate this challenge, together.

Sincerely,

Brigitte Lossing
Interim Director, Recreational Sports
