In keeping with the University’s policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression, the UC Berkeley Department of Recreation & Wellbeing also supports and values an individual’s right to access facilities, restrooms, locker rooms, programs, and services in accordance with an individual’s gender identity and gender expression.
RecWell offers a Universal Locker Room complete with private changing rooms, showers and toilets. It can be used by all members, regardless of who they are or how they may identify. These spaces are inclusive of members with disabilities, members of all gender identities, and any who wish for privacy for any reason. In particular, the room offers:
- Three ADA accessible changing rooms
- Two ADA accessible bathroom stalls (one including an adult changing table)
- Two ADA accessible showers
In accordance with state law and our own principles of non-discrimination, all RecWell members may use the locker room that suits their needs and identity.
