Barbell Basics (6 weeks)

Barbell Basics will teach the foundational movements of the squat, deadlift, overhead press and bench press, so that you can enter a weight room and feel confident that you have the skills to be successful.  In addition, you will learn other accessory movements to complement your training and reduce injury.

Introduction to Olympic Style Weightlifting (6 weeks)

Olympic-style weightlifting (also called just “weightlifting”) is a dynamic power sport and training program that comprises two lifts—the snatch and the clean & jerk—along with their accessory strength-based movements, such as the squat and the deadlift. While the sport of weightlifting features elite-level weightlifters competing against each other, weightlifting as a training method can benefit a broad range of people because of its customizability to different body types and physical abilities, its safety, and its high transferability to activities of everyday life. Join the class to learn the basics of weightlifting, including training exercises and principles, safety practices, equipment, and more. Open to all levels, beginners especially. Get ready to learn and to lift!
