Juneteenth – Day of Remembrance and Reflection

Event Start Date:June 28, 2021

Event End Date:June 28, 2021

Event Venue:

Last week we received the excellent news that President Biden declared June 19th a federal holiday for Juneteenth, the day that celebrates and commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Following this announcement the University of California (UC) President, Michael Drake has added Juneteenth to the list of eligible holidays for UC employees, which will be observed on Monday, June 28, 2021.

Berkeley Recreation & Wellbeing will be observing this holiday in 2022 in concert with the federal holiday calendar. We stand by the significance of this holiday and appreciate the opportunity to observe the importance of Juneteenth in United States history.

The following facilities and programs will be closed on June 28, 2021:

  • Recreational Sports Facility (RSF): Closed
  • Lap Swim at Golden Bear and Spieker Pool: Closed
