Exercise is Medicine Research: Introduction to Olympic-style Weightlifting

Olympic-style weightlifting (also called just “weightlifting”) is a dynamic power sport and training program that comprises two lifts—the snatch and the clean & jerk—along with their accessory strength-based movements, such as the squat and the deadlift. While the sport of weightlifting features elite-level weightlifters competing against each other, weightlifting as a training method can benefit a broad range of people because of its customizability to different body types and physical abilities, its safety, and its high transferability to activities of everyday life. Join the Exercise is Medicine Research: Introduction to Olympic-style Weightlifting class to learn the basics of weightlifting, including training exercises and principles, safety practices, equipment, and more. Open to all levels, beginners especially. Get ready to learn and to lift!

Note: RecWell expects this class to be restricted to research study participants, pending IRB approval. An updated description, including study eligibility for interested participants, will be provided as soon as this study has been approved.
